Lurking shadows of a werewolf flicker in the moonlight…

Groans and gasps of the undead crawl from beneath the earth…

A black cat prowls around a cobweb-filled skull…

All Hallows’ Eve is approaching…

and the oven is busily running…

Meet Miranda, in-house baker at Sweet Alchemy.

Miranda

Halloween is one of Miranda’s favorite time to bake, because it’s when she can spin her creative muscles to bake cute and creepy desserts.

For one thing, she can become a mad scientist like Frankenstein and create a cream cheese filled vanilla cake, disguised in the shape of the iconic green creature.

Her artistry also carries over to Halloween costume-making—one year, she did a take on Beetlejuice and a “polluted mermaid” another year.

Miranda draws plenty of inspiration from watching horror and Halloween-themed films like “The Nightmare before Christmas,” and the classic “Frankenstein,” for her Spooktacular creations.

Bat cupcakes, Witch hat cream pie, Mummy cake pops, Broken glass cupcake, Pumpkin Bundt cakes, Cookies n scream cupcakes…

BakedGoods

One night of Halloween is too short to contain these wicked ghoulish sweets. Miranda is the mastermind behind all of the baked goods you see in the store, from the perennial ice cream toppings to the seasonal confections.

When she moved from making ice cream to baking, she expanded on Sweet Alchemy’s regular sweets like brownies and cookies to a more colorful showcase of desserts.

Miranda

Miranda says she enjoys baking because it’s like a marriage of science and a way to express her creativity.

It gives her the freedom to mess up, solve problems and be artsy and creative.

Outside of the kitchen, Miranda plays roller derby, a pastime she’s been doing for 10 years.

Now that you know how awesome she is, say “hi” to our Queen Alchemist next time you see her!
